How to Get
Listed in the Ballooning Directory
Blastvalve is organized by subject and
most sites in it are suggested by users. Sites are placed in categories
after we visit and evaluate your suggestions and decide where
they best belong. We do this to ensure that Blastvalve is organized in the best
possible way, is easy to use, intuitive, helpful, and fair to everyone.
With this in mind, we ask that you
follow three simple steps when you have a site (URL) you'd like to suggest:
1. Check to see if your site is
already listed.
An important first step, because if you're already listed, you don't
need to submit it again. Check by searching for your site by title, or by
browsing appropriate categories. (You can do this from most pages using the search box at the top of the screen).
2. Find the appropriate category
in the Directory.
Finding an appropriate category for your site is key.
Remember that actual balloonists visit every site suggested and you choosing the best category helps us process suggestions quickly. If a site has nothing to do with ballooning, it won't be added.
3. Suggest your site from the
appropriate category.
Suggest your site from the category you think most appropriate. Do this by
clicking on the "Add URL" link at the bottom of that category page or
type the URL into the spider box and click "Spider It!" The spider
will explore your site and automatically enter some of the site info.
When you click on "Add
URL" in the appropriate category, you'll see an on-line form asking for
information about your site. (In the "category" space on the form,
you'll see the name of the category and any sub categories you have chosen.)
Please be prepared to provide your e-mail address, your site's title, URL, a
brief description and up to 10 key search words to associate with your entry.
Please be sure to use the full URL (http://.....) in your entry. Also, please do not use any non-alphanumeric characters in the description or
keywords.
If you prefer you can type your URL in the Spider box at the bottom of most
pages and it will automatically gather some of this information.
We update our database
on average every week or two and sites following the guidelines above can
expect to be added in this time. Sites listed in the wrong category, written in all CAPS, or that need rewriting will take longer. Please help us to help you by providing your
information as outlined above.
Many thanks,
